What causes hearing loss?

Hearing loss may be caused by or related to many things including:

      • Wax or object in the ear canal
      • Fluid in the middle ear
      • Noise exposure
      • Family history of hearing loss
      • Age related hearing loss
Note: Some causes of hearing loss may be medically treated. Your Audiologist will refer you to a physician if necessary.

Most hearing loss is due to nerve damage and is called "sensorineural hearing loss."
Typically this hearing loss is best treated with hearing aids.
